Learning doesn't just happen in the classroom.  Take a look at what's new!

academic programs that support literacy in our community.

image54

This is our classroom in the McDonald Building at Rye Rye Recreation. Our educators are experienced, certified early childhood literacy specialists. Our newly designed classroom is a modern, boutique learning center designed specifically for young learners!

We're the teachers that founded Rye Reads and the Rye Book Club for Kids! We also developed the Learning League Homework Program for the Rye Library. We started with the belief that children’s learning should be affordable, age appropriate, structured and organized. If we could tap into a child’s natural curiosity and give them the opportunity to express themselves in a safe, structured and nurturing environment, they would develop the love of reading and an appreciation for all learning. We were right! To date, our programs have helped many children in Rye and beyond become better readers, better students and better community members.

We pride ourselves on offering a variety of academic programs for individuals and small groups. We offer the best of today’s teaching practices, combining academic vigor with social and emotional support.

Your child will develop fine motor skills to prepare for future handwriting demands.  During small group instruction, student create crafts that involves snipping paper, coloring, gluing and manipulating modeling clay to form shapes and letters.  Purposeful play allows students to learn how to share and take turns, manage and express emotions in a healthy manner, and how to talk and listen to each other. Registration is limited.  Sessions are supervised by two qualified, experienced instructors.

Learning cursive writing is a skill that will last a lifetime. It’s a guarantee students will be confident signing a check, a contract or an autograph! It’s faster than manuscript, helps develop motor skills and reinforces learning. Without being able to read cursive writing, students will be unable to read historical documents or letters from their grandparents. At the very least, learning cursive writing reinforces the mantra that learning something new should be done simply for the joy of mastering a new skill.
